June 2, 2007

all I gotta say is, two hours was not enough for tonite's show.

Miranda July (No One Belongs Here More Than You)
Andrea Portes (Hick)

"Hick" is the best book i've read so far this year. We're in June, so it might just be the best book of the year as far as I'm concerned. Buy this book. Not to play favorites, Miranda, your book is definitely in my top five, but it could be that I've read some of the stories when they came out...but for debut novelist, holy shit, Andrea hits it out of the park. I'm burning everything I've ever written and becoming an accountant.

Then to pimp Dirkfest June 7th @ Slim's and June 8th @ Great American Music Hall, Kathy brought friends and surprises:
